While excavating on the south slope of the Acropolis, the Italians discovered the first evidence for Neolithic occupation in Attica. Consisting of worked obsidian blade, knives and arrowheads, Gilbert couldn’t summon much enthusiasm. Hill, Blegen, Wace and Droop came to inspect the discovery.
The school’s general factotum Parlanti took a photo of Gilbert on the site. Gilbert is standing on the south slope of the Acropolis and a little cross in the lower right corner indicates the level of the Neolithic floor.
